Have you checked the mouse settings through Control Panel to see whether they are set at optimum levels? Also, while there, check what mouse driver is being used.

If yours came with the manufacturer's own software that may need updating. If it's a 'brand new' computer installation, it's not unusual for Windows to appear slow at first as the OS will spend time indexing all your files, but if this behaviour continues it does need further investigation.

Also check what programs are launched at Startup, if any, as some can hog memory. Hi Anish A Kumar,. I would double-click on them, get a split second black screen, then back to desktop. Went crazy Haven't a clue how I did that don't even know what exacly that is.

All back to normal now. If you have stumbled into this, "leave" the HomeGroup. If your desktop windows icons recover, problem solved. In reply to A. I had this issue. This fixed it for me. Right-click on the short-cut selected Troubleshoot compatibility follow the instructions and save the settings. In reply to JD's post on March 5, The shortcuts I'm having trouble with are ones that point to documents, either PDF, doc, txt, etc. There is no "troubleshoot compatibility" option when you right-click one of those shortcuts.

The only way I've found to get around the problem is to recreate the shortcut and delete the bad one. This site in other languages x.
